IRS now issuing monthly payments

On July 15, 2021 the IRS began issuing advance Child Tax Credit payments to eligible families using the Child Tax Credit program, as part of the American Rescue Plan that was signed into law March 11, 2021.

The Child Tax Credit increases from $2,000 to $3,600 for each qualifying child under 6 and up to $3,000 for each qualifying child age 6-17.

Half of the total Child Tax Credit for 2022 (tax filing year 2021) will be issued in advance monthly payments starting July 15. Eligible families may receive advance payments of up to $300 per month for each child under 6 and up to $250 per month for each child age 6-17.

Eligible families will receive a direct deposit to the bank account on file with the IRS. Bank account information may be updated from the IRS Child Tax Credit Update Portal. Updates made by August 2nd will be applied to subsequent payments issued August 13 through December 2021. Visit the IRS website for more information.

The IRS will issue direct deposits to taxpayers that requested a direct deposit disbursement or applied for a new debit card when they filed their return. 

Taxpayers that requested a check printed from their tax professional's office or Walmart Direct2Cash may receive their 3rd stimulus payment by mail to the last known address on file with the IRS.
